While taking my 401(K) to rollover into an IRA, Kevin Paasch, did a terrible job. We told him over several meetings that we wanted high liquidity and no annuities.

He established an annuity with a huge withdrawal penalty. Gone is the liquidity and desire to not have an annuity. I admit that I did not read the volumes of legalese, but I was told the rollover would be a Simple IRA. My paperwork had an account number which I didn't understand.

When I asked what the number was for, he stated that it was only a holding account until all my 401(k) money was deposited. What I got was actually an annuity as an umbrella account, with sub-accounts for the various stock, bond and money market accounts. The umbrella annuity controls withdrawals. What I got was no interest, huge account fees, huge charges for unknown reasons, no liquidity, lies, unanswered voice mails, and letters saying I'm the only one at fault.

Stay away from Mass Mutual. It's obvious that they are in it to make commissions and don't care about the customer.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $394674.

Yes same situation with both my account and my wife. The stock market was at 16K when moved from our 401/403B individual IRA to Mass Mutual supposedly IRA with liquidity and growth promised at 4-6% we were sold an ANNUITY but called an IRA on all of our paperwork, which we both specifically told our Mass Mutual planner we did not want.

Today with the market hitting 19K and over 3 years into this we have less than a 1% return on our retirement investment. When questioning Mass Mutual told oh the market is down (LIE) you have an insurance policy to guarantee principle which we do have but were still assured our accounts would well perform above the cost of these riders and we would still see 3-4% growth NOT. The withdrawal fee is almost 10% to move to another company and even at the end of this ride in 7 years we will just have our principle to withdraw at a schedule that they establish.

My advise get a lawyer when dealing with your retirement assets. I am planning on seeking legal help and file a complaint with state Attorney Generals office.
